Re: Vortec heads wanted!

Do you realize your going to have to mill Vortec heads to achieve the stock 58cc chamber that your stock 305 heads have? You will also need a Vortec base. Your stock base won't work.

It's a great swap for a 305 but there's a little work involved.

Re: Vortec heads wanted!

I've got a set of vortec heads taking up space $200 plus shipping. Seem to be in good shape. Get them drilled out for older intake manifolds or you'll need a new lower intake.
Let me know. Thanks.

Re: Vortec heads wanted!

the intake port design won;t allow for "old" intake manifolds. the port "ROOFS" are way too high and you'll ahve wide open gaps that your gaskest will NOT cover. Forget about having "work" done to vortec heads to accommodate other intakes.. the money you spend there will MORE than pay for a top quality vortec intake. hell, I bought my edelbrock vortec intake for $100 NEW.. well, swapsheet new, but it was in a sealed box and never opened or installed. Vortec stuff is getting pretty common, so.. buy the heads, and the cash you'd blow trying to have them modified for your old intake and 305 block, you could use to buy a 350 block to go under the heads as well as a good intake that will bolt to vortec heads.
