FS: New 383 Shortblock

Tim in Wyoming 82601

Hello all.

I need the cash and am selling my 383 LT1 shortblock. I am right in the middle of an LT1 swap on my 86 IROC and am strapped for cash. The shortblock will be finished within the next few weeks, according to my builder.

This is a 12.0:1 to 12.4:1 compression LT1, depending upon what heads and head gasket you choose and what the actual piston to deck clearance will be when it is finished being built (I will measure this for you and tell you before I ship it to you).

The LT1 is unique in that it can run safely on pump 91-93 octane, with higher compression because it is reverse cooled and has aluminum heads.

When you see what all is in this engine, you will then know why I am strapped for cash.

Shortblock consists of the following:

-Mahle Power Pak 4.030" forged and coated 5cc flat top pistons
-Callies 6" forged rods
-Howards Cams 3.75 stroke "Track Smart" forged/nitrided 4340 steel crank
-Block decked so pistons are .0005-.0010 in the hole (my preference)
-All new bearings throughout
-ARP Studded two bolt mains
-Balanced stock flywheel
-Brand New Melling standard volume oil pump and oil pickup
-Brand New water pump gear driveshaft bearing in the block
-Timing cover and brand new Cloyes true roller timing set
-Stock Oil Pan with brand new gasket and stainless steel stud kit
-Block has been align bored and honed
-Block has been bored .030 over using deck plates and then honed
-Block has been cleaned and clearanced
-All new gaskets and seals/plugs throughout
-Rotating assembly and flywheel professionally balanced by Jerry at J-Team custom engines

You choose the camshaft and heads you want. I was going to go with LE2 heads milled to 55cc chambers and 205 cc runners and a LE 244/254 .608 .608 110 cam, since it's a higher compression engine. This combo would yield around 525-550 flywheel horsepower

I will not be selling my lifters with this shortblock. I recommend going with Johnson heavy duty hydraulic rollers. They are cheaper and also better than Comp Cams lifters. This is a strong engine built for over 500 horsepower (when you use good heads).

Price also includes the following items:

-brackets and hardware for alternator and power steering pump
-optispark unit
-water pump
-alternator and power steering pump
-starter

I am asking for less than what I put into this engine. Rotating assembly alone cost me $2,000. Machine work and assembly cost me $1300.00. Add up the cost of my original purchase of the engine plus the new bearings, gasket kit, oil pump, oil pickup, main studs, shipping costs etc. It was well over $4000.00. You're getting the engine at a cheaper price than what I paid, plus you'll get the above mentioned accessories.

This is a great deal.

The crank is 100% made in the USA using a 100% American forging which is then sent to Callies for finishing and sold and marketed by Howards Cams.

I am a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and I am proud to be an American, even though my country has gone to sh** the past several years.

$3800.00 plus shipping

I accept PayPal timmytina350@msn.com

See pics below. The shorblock is not assembled yet, but my builder is getting to it next week. My builder is Jerry Twogood at J-Team custom engines here in Casper, Wyoming. He has been building engines for 35+ years. He is a one-man operation and does not have anybody helping him with his work because he does things his way and his way only.

Feel free to call my builder, Jerry, or me anytime, if you have questions.
