[Sold] FOR SALE: Complete TPI Engine

FOR SALE: Complete TPI Engine
I've decided to do an LT1 swap.
I'm selling my entire 1986 LB9 engine with 700r4, with all that is needed to do a complete install. I figured some guys with V-6's or non running engines would really like this deal.
It's still in my car, and it runs great.
9.5:1 Compression
416 high output heads
Strong running engine
Tranny has TransGo Shift Kit installed
I'm asking $999.00 for everything--engine, tpi, distributor, Accel Supercoil, 8.8 mm wires, plugs, ecm, wiring harness, maf sensor, snorkel intake and K & N filters, tranny, nice Hedman shorties, and anything else I forgot.
I'm going to advertise this locally here in Wyoming, but I would like to help out someone on here, if they're interested.
I accept PayPal. You can call me at (307) 399 1696

Re: Gauging Interest-Complete TPI Engine
Text sent.
The only reason I am selling it is because I am doing an LT1 swap, with the 4L60e tranny, as well. I got a sweet deal on a wrecked 97 Camaro.
I just want too much power, I guess--he he.
Nothing is wrong with my setup at all, with the exception of the tranny needing a valve body swap ($40 or so, for the valve body). I am pretty darn sure that the throttle valve is sticking in the valve body, and that is the only problem I know of with my setup. I have not used the tranny in the "D" position for a long time now because it doesn't downshift when I stomp the gas, and it shifts too quickly when upshifting (stacked shifts).
The engine runs great, and everything else is working well. The tranny is electronically controlled, and it has a new governor assembly, along with the proper springs for the shift kit that is in the valve body.
You don't HAVE to swap in a new valve body, if you don't mind manually shifting the auto tranny (I've become a pro at this--I actually prefer it now over using "D"--he he). When it is in "D" it doesn't downshift when you stomp the gas--I have narrowed it down to a valve body problem. My current valve body has the TransGo Shift kit in it, so you would probably want to swap the shift kit parts into the new valve body (one in which the throttle valve moves freely). Dana at ProBuilt can send you instructions on what holes to drill in the new valve body, so that the shift kit works perfectly.
There are no other problems with anything in my entire setup. It's not super fast, but it's not slow, either. It moves the car right along quite nicely, even with the little camshaft that GM put in it in 86. That can always be addressed, though, by getting a better camshaft, by porting/prepping the stock 416 heads, and with some tuning.

Re: Gauging Interest-Complete TPI Engine
Details of my setup-This list should be pretty complete: it will all remain assembled and ready to drop in (minus the engine oil because I'll drain it before I ship it)
I ran fuel injector cleaner through the gas tank every other tank, for the last three weeks and once a month before that time period.
Complete 86 LB9 305 tpi engine minus the A/C compressor
9.5:1 compression
Flat top pistons
416 heads (these are great 305 heads to port and polish at home)
Stock valve covers
700r4 tranny with Transgo Shift kit installed
Starter and alternator and aluminum Weiand High Output water pump
All required pulleys, belts
Full tpi intake (runners, ported upper plenum, and tpi base)
Fuel rails and injectors with stock fpr
Stock HEI distributor with Accel SuperCoil, plus new cap and rotor
Accel 8.8 mm racing wires
NGK Iridium spark plugs (almost 7 bucks a plug)
Stock throttle body
Air intake assembly (dual snorkel, K & N filters, MAF sensor, and TB to MAF rubber coupling).
ECM and wiring harness
front fuel lines
Part Number 68470 1 5/8" Hedman shorty headers
I may have missed something small, but it's probably something that is still on the engine that it needs anyway (ie, harmonic balancer, oil pan, etc.)
I'll throw in the oil gauge that is installed on it right now (mechanical sender with separate oil gauge--and I'll throw in the stock coil--which I replaced a week ago with the Accel, and the smog pump and bracket if you want it).

Re: Gauging Interest-Complete TPI Engine
I'm hoping to sell it all as a package deal to someone, but I'll see how it goes in the next few days, and I'll get back to you. I'm going to post pics up here in a minute, too. It's all still in my car, and it is still in running condition.

Re: Gauging Interest-Complete TPI Engine
Pictures posted. I had the headers sand blasted, then I cleaned them further and painted them with black VHT paint, which is holding up nicely. You can't tell in the light in the pics, but the plenum is polished only up to 600 grit sandpaper, and I haven't hit it with aluminum polish yet.
In case you're wondering, I also sanded off the dual snorkel plastic because it had little dots of paint all over it that wouldn't come of, so it is ready to paint, too.

Re: Gauging Interest-Complete TPI Engine
I love my car and take good care of it. There is nothing wrong with the engine at all. I just thought an LT1 swap would be a very worthwhile swap.
Here's the 97 I found:

Re: Gauging Interest-Complete TPI Engine
A few guys are promising me money for the entire setup. If this weren't the case, I'd part it all out and sell the harness to you. You'll find one here, though, if you keep looking.
Did you post a "Parts Wanted" thread in the classifieds?

Re: FOR SALE: Complete TPI Engine
I used NPT--they even came out and picked up the engine and tranny and hauled it off for me.
It cost $421.00 from here to Pennsylvania.
Check out my swap thread: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...ver-v-8-a.html
