Cold Air Intake - Perfect For Low Hood Clearance

I pieced this kit together one day because nothing else would fit under my hood after I got my Blueprint engine. The Vortec heads combined with the new intake I had to use for those heads made nothing else fit. But then I realized while this is a great cold air kit, it's not meant for a 385 hp engine. When I got around 3500 rpm it choked. After discussing this with Spectre they came to the conclusion that this would work great on a 300 hp or less engine. So that means pretty much any stock third gen.

So I have this kit for sale, if you've got 300 or less hp, this is for you...

Spectre Performance Cold Air Intake Tubing (8208 - 8708 - 8136)
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SPE-8208/ ($48.39)
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SPE-8708/ ($12.39)
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SPE-8136/ ($28.69)

Turbonetics 10351 - Turbonetics Carburetor Pressure Plenum
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TNT-10351/ ($115.95)

Here's my original post about it with pictures...

This cold air setup only has about 300 miles on it. I paid $190 for all of it (it cost less when I got it). I'll take $110 shipped.

I like that, i've been wondering about something like that for a while. To bad it probably doesn't flow as well as the pro-flow i have now though.

Seriously the pro flo can be overkill. I mean do you have an engine that sucks in 1000cfm? What size engine do you have? What carb? Or is it tbi? Also do you know your hp?

Very true, its a 350 with mild mods and a edelbrock 600cfm carb. Not sure of the horsepower i'm guessing around 270. Sorry not trying to keep bringing that up in every post, i do love the way that intake looks. I'm very tempted to buy it, I just don't want to risk losing any performance.

That is in no way a cold air kit. It is still grabbing hot air from within the engine bay. On the other hand looks decent for a budget!

True because of where I put the filter it wasn't getting cold air. But that's what they label these things.

I want to sell the whole thing as a kit. So if you want the hat you need to buy the whole thing.

As for the 270hp, this will work great and you won't lose any power.

Re: Cold Air Intake - Perfect For Low Hood Clearance

If you put a small wall around the filter, it could be turned into a cold air setup. Until then, it is a hot air intake & could be costing you power, because of the hot air the engine is ingesting.

Or put a 90 degree where the filter is, run the tubing THROUGH the flat tray below & put the filter under there. Then you have a nice Cold Air Intake.

True, that would help. As it is in my photo it's getting the same results as a typical open element air cleaner, like the 14 inch I had listed. It seems most people tend to use those. So basically with this one you'll get the same effect but with a different look and fitting. This fit under my hood when a 14" wouldn't.
