SBC Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads for sale
I have a pair of Trick Flow Twisted Wedge gen 1 heads fresh from the machine shop ready to go. They have been milled to 55cc chambers, fresh valve job, springs good for .540 lift, new seals, and a very light cleanup porting done on them (link to pictures below). I've had some ugly surprises in my bottom end so I have to rebuild it entirely, which means my compression would be way too high with these. They have been very lightly ported, just cleaning up the casting marks & such- the port shape was not changed except on the approach to the sides of the guides. The part number is TFS-31400001. They do have steam holes for a 400, but they'll work on a 327/350/383/377 etc. just fine. I'll include the set of 16 brand new extra guides that I bought for them before the machine shop checked the heads out. There are some small spots that look like the engine they were previously on had some kind of piston failure or maybe a spark plug electrode came apart, but nothing that would cause any problems and nothing in the chamber area- only the quench pad. It's shown in the pictures.
From what I understand, these are the only 1.60"/2.02" heads that will work on a 305. Please confirm with TFS first, as I don't have a 305 block to test this with!!!
They use a standard perimeter bolt type valve cover, and are somewhat of an angle plug head- but Trick Flow doesn't do it like the old GM angle plugs; they clear headers much better the way TF does it.
I'll take $800 plus shipping for these. At this price I'm losing my shirt on them. You can pick them up in person and avoid shipping costs. Again, these are complete with valves, springs, locks, retainers, new seals, and even an extra set of guides in the TFS box.
Here are the flow numbers for unported Gen 1's (28" water pressure):
*** I can't get the flow table to show up right, so email me and I can send the full instruction pdf file complete with flow data ***
NOTE- These will not work with standard domed pistons. Flattop or dished pistons will have to be used. You have to check piston-to-valve clearance with these, and you have to get your valvetrain geometry right with these heads.
Another note: The pictures show the heads before they were reassembled, but they are complete. The original Fererra valves, better springs, etc. are included. As with any other heads, you will need to check the springs to make sure they will work with your camshaft!

Re: SBC Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads for sale
I have the identical heads on my car and when I got them refreshed this past winter, I also got them flowed. Here is the flow sheet at 28" and 4.03" bore...these are in stock form.
With these heads, a 8.8:1 compression, a CompCam XR270HR roller cam, Performer RPM intake, street/strip prepped QJet, and Edlebrock 1-5/8" headers, my car made 310 RWHP & 342 RWTQ.
Good luck with the sale.

UPS shipping is $56.80 to your zip code, including insurance, assuming you have only a residential address. I think it's slightly cheaper if you have a commercial address.

Thanks Justin, yes these are. I'm disgusted that I can't use them, but that's life I guess. I spent a LOT more to buy and have these prepped for my engine just to find out I couldn't use them. They are absolutely ready to bolt on, check piston/valve clearance, set up valvetrain geometry, and GO. No further work on the heads is needed.

Re: SBC Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads for sale
Just a heads up to prospective buyers....
These are nice heads but require a little homework. There is a very select few rockers that are recommended for these heads. Comp Pro Magnum, Crane Gold Race and Trickflow rockers to name a few. If you don't use the recommended rocker, you will take out the guides in less than 5000 miles....guaranteed! It's not that big a deal but you have to use them.
I had an issue of Camaro Performers magazine where they put a set of these G1's on a white IROC with a Holley Stealthram. The car was a real runner. I wish I had'nt lent that magazine out. Have'nt seen it since.

Re: SBC Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads for sale
Heads sold to ???. Thanks!
Thanks wesilva, that's right the valvetrain geometry has to be exactly right with these. TFS went out on a limb with these and gave all the performance they could, but you have to follow the instructions, check the piston/valve clearance very carefully, and likewise get the valvetrain geometry right. I called TFS for more info and they said that their rockers or Crane Gold P/N 11750-16 are the only (1.5 ratio) rockers they guarantee will work. They clearly discouraged the Comp Cams rockers- the roller tip, even the Pro Magnums and the "Hi Tech" stainless ones.
I've gotten the Crane Gold rockers from eBay before at good prices, as well as the Trick Flow ones.
Kind of like Keith Black pistons, you have to follow the instructions to the letter and they'll take lots of punishment, but if you deviate you may just cost yourself a lot of money. Do it right, and the grin will be permenant and you'll need (or soon have) brown upholstery!!!

Re: SBC Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads for sale
Well, I'm running plain ol' Crane aluminum rockers on mine and the geometry is fine. I've put over 5000 miles since I got the heads done last winter and my guides are still fine.

Re: SBC Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads for sale
you will be fine. the rocker thing only comes into play if your running center bolt covers. which these arn't. so for these the only thing to worry about is if you end up with some crazy oversized ones that rub on each other since the intake angle is changed. making the rockers a little closer together. on center bolt ones, you have to clear the valve cover bolt running between the two, or just clearance the rocker in that spot. and yes these heads do clear on a stock bore 305 because I've run a set on one.
