Engine harness routing?

What was the engine wire harness routing along the firewall? Looks like after it comes out of the bulkhead connector it goes over the front of the brake master cylinder or booster, but then does it go under the windshield wipe motor and along the firewall in back of the distributor? How is it held in place? The engine harness for this car was on the front seat when I got it and the pictures in my assembly and services manuals don't show the wire harness routing very well, so that's why I'm asking.

Re: Engine harness routing?

I had the same question when I did my engine swap. The harness is held in place with these straps attached to the top bell housing bolts...

Thanks. That was my next question about the clips to hold it to the bellhousing. 2nd gen Camaros (and Firebirds with the Chevy engine) had special P clips to hold the harness to the top of the bellhousing, but it looks like 3rd gens just used standard run of the mill Adel clamps.

Re: Engine harness routing?

After going over the bellhousing did the harness then run along the top of the right subframe rail?

No, there are three wires (two large red and one purple) that go down to the starter. You will need a heat shield tube, either factory or fabricated, to prevent the wires from being burnt by the exhaust manifold (or headers). A pink wire to the distributor, tach wire (usually white or black), oil pressure sending unit wire(s), a couple of wires (typically brown & red) will run to the alternator, if your engine is carbed, a wire to the choke, wires to the A/C, Temperature sending unit, etc.
What year is your car?...
