Power windows are slow. Upgrade?

Power windows are slow. Upgrade?
The power windows on my 1991 GTA are rather slow, even when compared to my 1990 ZR1 that go up and down 2x or 3x the speed. I would love to upgrade to a faster motor or find another solution. What do you guys recommend

Re: Power windows are slow. Upgrade?
There could be a few different things going on to cause slow windows. I chased this issue on my car when I was rebuilding both doors.
1. Window motors are old/tired. Replacements can be had cheap, I got mine from Napa and they work fine. The only difficulty is that the old ones are riveted in so they'll need to be drilled out. If done carefully, you can use bolts or rivets on the new ones.
2. Most third gens need the window tracks greased at this age. Removal of the door panel affords pretty easy access, I used white lithium grease and ran the window a few times then wiped the excess. Made a huge difference.
3. The guides could be out of adjustment. There are two guides that could cause this, they are located on top of the door underneath the lower window molding. They have slotted holes and could be too tight against the window, causing excess drag. If you haven't changed or adjusted these, you're probably OK but its worth mentioning.
Changing the window motors and greasing the tracks will likely make a world of a difference for your window speeds. To my knowledge there is no "upgrade" to these, just refreshing what's already there.

Re: Power windows are slow. Upgrade?
Thank you for the info. I found AC Delco units that I will purchase today along with the white lithium grease. I will report back on the before and after roll up and roll down speed. I was also reading about running separate power to the passenger side as it feeds off the driver side, hence why the passenger side window is slower to move. Will do further research around this and implement as well.

These power windows (1984 T/A) are much slower that those of today's cars.

I intend to eventually convert from manual to power windows, but since the factory original units are so sluggish, I plan to go with after-market and use the factory switches...

I was going to say that bumping-up the Voltage, will speed-up operation, like the "Boost-a-Pump" Module for Electric Fuel Pumps.

Re: Power windows are slow. Upgrade?
I was trying to think of that name. There is another module, IIRC, called Win Turbo, or close to it. Both are real easy to install.
The older windows were slow, but a '91 should have rather fast windows.
The other issue that causes this is that the circuit breaker contacts in the window motor start to corrode. This too causes a slow motor. There are sites that show how to bypass the in-motor breaker.
