Under dash harness
Hello i've here for a long time firat time posting and i have a question about the under dash harness for my 89 Trans Am convertible 5.7 tpi auto trans... im the third owner and ive had the car for a year working on it and when i thought i had it ready more probles showed up...oh well thats how this cars are i guess. Well on to te problems...after driving the car for about an hour the gauges would die and the car would heat up and my interior electronics would shut down so i started looking under the dash and i began to find few spkiced wires and bridged connector the thing was that the further i looked the more and more splices i found till it got to the point where i had to take off the whole dash to be able to see them all and it was alot the worst was when i saw that in some cases 5 wires were splices to 1 and they were just twisted and had duct tape holding them so needles to say i tried to put them back as best i could. but mi question is i got a hold of a 91 formula 5 speed full harness and was wondering if it was a direct plug and play or what i could do to make it work plz if any one could give me some info on this

Re: Under dash harness
Off hand I know that the starter wiring maybe slightly different. Auto runs the starter engage wire through the fear selector, manual runs it through the clutch pedal position sensor - IIRC. also there is a park nuetral position wire that runs from the gear selector on the auto to a connector under the dash and then the the ECM. Basically you are going to have to run all the wires to the gear selector.
