another wiring question

I'm in the process of rewiring under the hood on an 83 z28 camaro and in my haste I didn't mark a few wires coming from the junction box at the firewall. The issue is there are 2 dark green wires and 2 solid white wires. Whites should go to the tach and wiper motor. Greens to the wiper and some single plug which isn't connected to anything anymore. The engine has been replaced and is carburetored now and the ac has been removed. I have 12v from one white and one green with the key on. Doesn't the tach wire just send current to the gage or should the 12v white go to that? Is the wiper motor sent current even if it isn't turned on? With the key on I get minimal voltage from the other white and green wire. Also to complicate things the wiper motor plastic housing is a little melted from a fire before I got the car so I may have things hooked up correctly but motor or terminals may be bad. The car cranks up and runs now I'm just trying to work this issue out. Any help is appreciated!

Yes

Depends how it is wired ;
plenty of items in the car get direct 12V all the time which is then grounded at a switch to turn something on as opposed to going through the switch 1st

Re: another wiring question

Thanks a lot for the info. The 83 schematic shows a white wire coming from the fuse box to the wiper motor so I assume that should have 12v and I'll hook the other white to the tach. That leaves me with the 2 green ones, one of which has 12v with key on. I have some pics of the wires if anyone could ID them it would help, They branch off from the main harness and are black and dark green going to the plug with another dark green wire coming out about 8" from that. Possibly went to the ac which is no longer there. http://s1006.photobucket.com/user/ch...c3893.jpg.html

Posts 22-23, your 83 carb is practically identical to the 82 and 84 C100's

Fastest way to ID loose wires is by tracing the pin and comparing to a factory pinout, but just a gander, the connector in question is the AC compressor and should not attach to the C100 directly

Loose dk grn wire with 12v IGN sounds like the coolant gauge wire as it is connected directly to the IGN switch
