vats help info

During my day of searching to find out how to get my car to start I tried the resister nothing was working vats box fried. So I finally I tried an ecm from a not vats vehicle jumped the starter relay and sure enough fired right up. So a simple solution jump the starter relay and plug in a non vats ecu its a temporary fix if Ur broke I wouldn't recommend doing it for long as anyone can steal your car

You only need the memcal ( chip ) from inside the ECM ; not the whole ECM

The chip inside the computer (ECM )
One computer may be used for many different cars ; only the info (tune ) on the memcal inside changes to suit whatever car the computer is in

Memcal = the blue thing in pic below

Re: vats help info

TBI uses two separate chips, a PROM or EPROM in a black plastic carrier and a smaller NETRES in a similar black plastic carrier. Some TBI ECMS do not have a removable NETRES, and will only have the PROM or EPROM in a black plastic carrier.

Re: vats help info

The letters on the prom will still be helpful identifying your problem just. Verify you have vats enabled on the prom. But since you have the code 46 showing I'm sure thats what's cutting your injector pulse.

Re: vats help info

Have the vats programed out of a prom or install a modulator.
