WTH? Melted cap and rotor!
Had just driven a couple hundred miles to and from auto-x.
Started removing the TPI intake to send for porting. Got to the Dist cap and the coil wire comes off in my hand leaving a gaping hole in the cap. WTH?
The car was running perfectly before the shutdown to pull the intake.
Think I have another problem besides getting a new cap and rotor? Not sure what to do!

Well damn dude, look how dirty everything is and the condition of your rotor. It's no wonder your cap blew up. Didn't your momma teach your how to clean?? What's the matter with you!!
Haha no seriously, check your coil and plug wire for resistance, etc. The more resistance in the system, more more energy (=HEAT) has to pass through the system to defeat it. All that energy gets to pass through that nice little button in the bottom of that cap where it contacts the rotor. So yeah. I'd just replace the wires and plugs (and cap and rotor) to be safe, and check the plugs themselves while I was at it.
