4th gen wiper motor

So, I am using the original 3rd gen wiper motor with my 96 engine/dash wiring harness. I can get the high speed and the washer nozzles to work but nothing else works. I've searched around and it seems this is common with the 4th gen dash swap. I know the 4th gen wiper motor is completely different in design and internal wiring but I figured I could at least get hi and low working. Has anybody figured this out? My park position doesn't seem to be working either.

You failed to mention which stalk you are using.

If you swapped the dash only, you just need to make sure the
pink, dark green, gray, and purple wires make it from the 3rd Gen stalk to the 3rd Gen motor.

No Parking Zone

As to the parking problem, once you get the rest of the wipers operational VIA the above info, and they still won’t park, remove the motor cover, directly connect the motor, put the wiper stalk in the LO position, and see if the latch arm spring out and catches the drive pawl.

Re: 4th gen wiper motor

Sorry about that. I swapped the 4th gen column too. It was free so I figured why not.

Re: 4th gen wiper motor

OK, so am going to change gears a little bit. I remember I used the 4th gen column because i wanted the ability to run the 4th gen cruise assembly, and I didn't even think about the wipers. Having said that, I think I can replace the 4th gen stalk and wiper switch with the 3rd gen setup. This will give me the correct wiper wiring for my 3rd gen wiper motor, but it won't quite match the cruise. After studying my shop manuals, it looks like the cruise will work with a couple of wiring changes. Please check my thoughts so I can make sure I'm reading this correctly.

Since the wire colors are pretty much the same here's my plan:

--------------------------------86 cruise switch-------------96 cruise switch
(resume/accel input)--------yel to grey/blk-----------------------grey/blk
(set coast input)--------------red to dk blue-----------------------dk blue
(cruise on input)---------------green to grey-----------------------grey
(brake input)--------------------------brown------------------------brown
(speed input)--------------------brown to red----------------------dk green/wht

Since I am using the 4th gen PCM, dash, and engine harness, the speed input will most likely be in the harness already but i'll make sure.

That seems logical for the Cruise.

However if you go the original route you would have to get a 3rd Gen stalk to take measurements, or experiment, to select the resistors to modify the 4th Gen stalk, because the 4th Gen module is different from the 3rd Gen module.

A resistance substitution box would speed up the experimentation.
