CS130 to CS130D conversion not charging, net help with wiring
Hey all,
I just got my CS130D alternator bolted in and fired up, but it is not charging at all. I bought a wiring harness adapter from Quality Power, part #W3030D http://www.qualitypowerauto.com/catalog.php?item=81,, as shown in the picture below:
It just runs the wires straight across, no wires change position, it's basically only there so I don't have to hack up the factory harness to splice in the CS130D.
The alternator itself is a brand new Bosch unit for a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier. I pulled the 5 groove pulley off, put on a 6 groove pulley, and bolted it in. Now it's not working at all. Any ideas?
I'm going to call quality power tomorrow and see if they can help me out. In the meantime, does anyone on here have a wiring diagram for the CS130 and CS130D so I can see if maybe just some of the wires are out of place on the harness I bought?
Thanks for the help!

Pin test each connector for continuity. If nbody chimes in with the wiring diagram I can dig out my external HD with alldata tomorrow and post up the diagram for ya.

Thank you, I really appreciate it. I'm kind of leaning towards one of the pins not working right too. That, or they shipped me a harness with the wrong wiring order. Its too dark to see out now, but I will definitely check for continuity tomorrow.

Re: CS130 to CS130D conversion not charging, net help with wiring
Hmmm... so after about an hour of deep reading on CS130D alternators, it seems that I have found my problem. Apparently, some CS130Ds use a "PLIS" configuration identical (except for the plug shape itself), to the CS130 alternator already in a lot of F-bodies. However, other CS130Ds used a "PLFS" configuration that sends a signal to the ECM to help control the alternator. Looks like the '97 Cavalier is probably going to be a "PLFS" type. I'll just have to order the correct regulator and put it in.
I'm beginning to think I should have just stuck with the CS130, but I'm awful tired of having the bearings and voltage regulators go out on those...
Good reading on CS style alternators here:

More reading, confirms what I already thought. I'll pull the regulator tomorrow and check, but I'd be willing to bet the one I just put in was a PLFS configuration.
I found the regulator that I will need. It's a PLIS configuration, Transpo Part #702HD: http://store.alternatorparts.com/d70...ternators.aspx.
Luckily, you can service all the electronics on the CS130D without ever taking apart the case, so it shouldn't take too long at all. I really like this design, I think I'll be looking into a AD244 conversion for my Suburban when the time comes...
I'll write up a full swap post when I've completed it.

Re: CS130 to CS130D conversion not charging, net help with wiring
Final update for the night. I found a drop in alternator. The one needed is for a 1994-95 Chevrolet Astro Van with a 4.3L V6. It has the correct 6 groove pulley, correct PLIS voltage regulator, and the correct clocking to avoid valve-cover/terminal interference. I think I'll just swap the pulleys back out, return the one I have, and order the direct replacement. Here we go for round 3, haha.

On that flat 4 pin connector that goes into the cs130d just send switched power with an inline resistor and it'll charge no problem
