Passenger side fan still running after coolant temp change

Before I put in my coolant temp both fans always ran as soon as I started the car or even if i turned the key. I changed it today and the passenger side fan is still running. I didnt try to heat the engine bc my temp gauge doesnt work and I dont want to overheat the car. The fan is also running even with the AC off. If the passenger side fan runs will the other fan run when the engine heats? Also was the fan possibly rigged?

ESP doesn't work well for some of us.Give us at least a little clue.
Year model and engine / induction would be a BIG HELP

If you filled in your profile on the left we would at least have some idea

Left . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Wondering

If the PO rigged the fan as you suspect, make sure to get rid of that incorrect wring.

The right side fan is controlled by the fan switch located on the lower right side, near the rear of the engine.

Make sure the switch is opening once the engine is cool.

How would I know of the switch is open? Also what about the driver side fan, I dunno if that can works. The only way to dj.d out is to run the car but if the passenger aide fan is running will the driver side fan run?

Re: Passenger side fan still running after coolant temp change

I fixed my temp gauge, the needle was stuck behind the metal panel. I took a piece of foam and stuck it in between the gauge and metal piece so it doesn't get stuck now I got to fix the fan issue

You can use an ohmmeter to find out if the switch is open.

Disconnect the fan switch wire, then connect the
black ohmmeter lead to ground, and the red ohmmeter lead to the switch center conductor.

When the switch is open the ohmmeter will indicate infinite ohms.

When the switch is closed the ohmmeter will indicate zero ohms.

Re: Passenger side fan still running after coolant temp change

I was driving today for about 2 hours and then drove to about another hour and the car seems fine. The temp was about 180-190 and went down a little while I was driving so the driver side fan must be spinning while I am driving. It also was about 70 degrees today
