Tail light issues...wiring?

I've got a problem I've not found on the boards, hopefully not overlooked. I've got 82 T/A tail lights on my 92 bird, which shouldn't make a difference, but you never know, and my brake lights work (the middle two lights) but the outside two (backing and outermost tails) will not. I've checked the bulb and fuses, the problem doesn't seem to be there, but nevertheless the lights won't work. The wiring in the back looks stock but idk, especially with some of the things I've found in this car. I discovered the problem when I got some backing bulbs to replace what I thought weren't working(I was wondering why it was so hard to see backing at night) and to my horror I discovered this problem. Anyone run into this before? Know why it might be this way? Thanks

[edit] the wiring is definitely not stock. I was completely wrong.

PO Power Problem

Because the PO apparently modified the wiring you can probe to remode.

Use a 12 volt fused source to probe which wire illuminates which bulb.

Just connect ground to ground
(black wires in most cases) then using the + wire from the supply, touch the unknown wires.

When the bulb illuminates, attach a label to the wire.

You can find out what wires are powered and when by using a voltmeter or test bulb.

Then splice the corresponding wires to the tail lamp assembly.

Enlightening

TURN SIGNALS:

Turn the ignition key to the RUN position.

Using a test light
(the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) probe the purple wire going to the steering column connector.

It’s the larger of the connectors located on the right side of the steering column.

If there’s power there, turn the blinker to the left position, then probe the
LIGHT blue wire at the same connector.

Is there power there?

With the key in the RUN position probe the dark blue wire at the switch on the right side of the shifter.

Is there power there?
