motor swap went well. This body I put a v6 in had a v8.The tach is peged out on start up.I have no idea if it worked before cause I never sean it run.How can I check to see what it is?I moved everything from the v6 firebird to the v8 camaro.car starts and runs fine so far.

I have a 90-92 firebird tach. I will trade you ? the resisters are different in the tachs.

An 8 cylinder engine produces 4 pulses per revolution.
A 6 cylinder engine produces 3 pulses per revolution.
A 4 cylinder engine produces 2 pulses per revolution.
your tach should be working if wired correctly but inaccurate.

how hard are they to get to.I found out why my dash lights were staying on.It was the headlight switch is loose. The tach was showing peged as soon as I hooked the batt. up.When motor was running it stayed that way. It's not just reading high or low it's max out.Is that still the cure?

There should be a white wire on the dist coil that wire feeds the ip tach input. The tach should have a lower than actual reading.

Re: tach gauge peged out
no,got the car running fair.still has some bad gas to work out of it.I understand that it would read off but should work some.It comes down when shut off I think but pegs out on start up.this motor tran ecm harness all worked fine before I pulled them out of the red firebird. My best guess is the tach gauge is not working properly. The gas gauge reads quarter tank when empty I think too.may try changing the tach when I get the dash out of the bird.I can use the resister out of the bird too.
