Headlight Wiring Question
I know this seems like a dumb and pointless question but is there any way to convert a HID Relay wiring harness to brighten my H4 conversion setup? I received an HID wiring harness form a friend the other day and realized that the plug end is a 2 prong setup instead of the normal 3 prong type plug. i was wondering is there any way i can convert this wiring harness to accommodate my h4 setup for my camaro. If not, is there a kit i can order online to help my dim headlights? or can i get a list of parts i will need to add relays to my headlights.

Re: Headlight Wiring Question
theres a thread on here somewhere about making a stand alone wiring harness. that would probably help with your dim lights.
without knowing exactly what the hid wiring kit is for, theres no way to give a definate answer to your question.
and stock lights have a 3 prong connector for the high beam and a 2 prong for the low beam

Re: Headlight Wiring Question
It would make a good template for your own harness, but you'll need more wiring too unless you only use two lights

Re: Headlight Wiring Question
If you mean that one with the black and blue wires, it would have to somehow plug into the trigger wires from the stock harness to turn on the lights I would think??

Re: Headlight Wiring Question
thats what i thought, but it doesnt look like it would plug into anything on a 3rd gen harness.

Re: Headlight Wiring Question
It won't, but this was clearly not designed for a third gen. No idea what it's intended purpose is. OP, what's this supposed to be for?

Re: Headlight Wiring Question
if i cannot modify this kit i was going to use that page posted above to make my own harness. but reading that page becomes confusing at times so i was thinking of trying to find a kit online pre made. anyone see anything like that online?

i dont theres there a single "plug and play" harness for our cars for HID upgrades. so youre pretty much stuck making your own.

Re: Headlight Wiring Question
does it actually just plug into the headlight switch some how, or do you have to tap into those trigger wires?
it sayd it plugs into the stock headlamp connector, but that sounds like a bad way to trigger the system, since the headlight plug is on a relay. youre using a relay switched circuit to switch a relay....

Re: Headlight Wiring Question
It's pricey, but you can get a plug and play harness for your H4 lights from these guys. I'm sure there are others, but this is one I remember

Re: Headlight Wiring Question
If I read right, for a Camaro it looks like:
HL28220 - Upgrade Harness from 165mm Sealed Beams to H4 Outer Lamps and H4 Inner Lamps with High Beam Only (Use with four Free Form Lamps
Base Price for all harnesses: $87.58
Plus Add: $36.32 for that one
Grand Total of $123.90
Or is it the HL28220HD, in which case does double (adds another $87.58 to the base $87.58) the price?

Re: Headlight Wiring Question
My guess for the "extra heavy duty" in the part number - they wired the other set of H4 as high beam only and connected the two positive leads together for 115 watts on a 60/55W HI/LO bulb, burning both filaments at the same time. I did this to my H4 high beams, but rarely use them, the housings aren't rated for the power, and when I do, I get blinded by the reflective paint on the road signs
