cs144 wiring

need a hand with wiring a cs144 alternator into a 87 camaro 5.7 tpi. i know this subject has been beat to death on here but every time i search i dont find what i need to know.

i see alot of people did this with a 86 tpi and needed a resistor in the L pin of the harness. i have only found one person who has an 87 and they dont say if they had to add a resistor, they just said their plug worked. i had the cs130 alternator stock and the plug goes right into the cs144. but when i check for voltage or resistance i find it on the s wire at 12.5 volts; f wire at 12.5 volts; but nothing on the L wire (i dont have a wire for p) and i have infinite resistance on the L pin. from what everyone says you need voltage and resistance on the L wire.

for anyone who has done this swap on a 87 with the direct plug in, did you have to change the f and l pin wiring? did you have to add a resistor? my daily driver is dead right now and i need to figure this out.

thanks

Re: cs144 wiring

well on that note thanks to lucid for his thread on sathirdgen and linking me to it. also thanks to whoever said you couldnt use the stock 87 short and stubby alternator bracket with the monster cs144. yes, you can, just think a little bit and use a sawzall (all i had at the time). i even used the stock cs130 5 rib pulley and STOCK length 5 rib belt properly aligned and adjusted perfectly out of the box with minor upper bracket mods. pics will be up saturday.
