What are these under the hood?
Hey there,
On my car I am swapping EFI to carb, and I am working my way through the wiring harness. I need to keep all fuel emission pieces as it's still a street car.
I have come across some sensors and relays that I have no idea what they are. I can't find them in any wiring diagram. Also, there used to be two alarm systems in the car and one got ripped half way out.
Does anyone know what these things are? I have put arrows to the items in the photos.
Thank you!

the second pic is your fuel pump fuse...the rest appear to be aftermarket relays maybe?

Re: What are these under the hood?
I ended up removing all the mystery relays. I'm going to put the fans on a manual switch (maybe wire 1 to always be on). As for the fuel pump, I'm still up in the air about how I'm going about that. I heard someone say to wire it to the oil pressure sensor?
After spending 3 hours tracing wires I found a lot of them went to an alarm system. The guy who sold me the car said he took out most of the existing alarm system and installed his own.
The canister actually had two wires going to it from the ECM, so I'm not sure how that's going to work. I cut the wires any ways, but left some length in case I need to wire it up again. Any ideas on how the canister would work?

Re: What are these under the hood?
the carbon canister is controlled by the ecm and purges the gas tank fumes into the intake at certain points it supposedly keeps the gas fumes from being put out into the air. but for me i just ripped it out cuz i didnt see a need for it.
as for the fuel pump wirng i just used a aftermarket oil pressure sensor and wired it up so the fuel pump would only be on when the motor is running. i dont no what you did with your wirng but i used the pink wire that went to the distrubitor before and wired it thoughr the oil pressure switch then to the relay that activates it then the relay jumps connections then it runs through the bigger relay wire then just wire the relay output to the fuel pump. its hard to explain if you dont understand how a relay works. well try to explain better with a picture possible if you dont understand.
as for the fan or fans i would run them through a relay to cuz of the high power they draw. and dont wire it so that you got to turn them on and off yourself cuz you WILL forget at some point and then you get a dead battery trust me it sucks done it before lol. the last thing on your mind when you are running late for a date is to shut off your fan speccially when its pouring out and you dont notice it as much lol

Re: What are these under the hood?
In Canada, if the car came with emission controls they must stay, so it sucks but I can't rip the canister out.
A picture would definitely help me out on this one if it's not too much trouble, just showing what wire goes where. I'm pretty new to all this wiring stuff/
This fuel pump is the last piece of the puzzle. Once it's hooked up I can drop in the engine.

Thank you for the drawing - that does help quite a bit. I never understood relays, and I looked them up so many times about how they work. Your drawing actually makes so much sense to me now with how a relay works.
After reading your paper I went back to read about relays and I can't believe how easy it is.
