89 iroc bulkhead wiring (need help )
im currently in the middle of converting my iroc to turbocharged, the previou owner did a real hack ob on the wiring when they converted the car to carb.
i.e bare 12v+ wires they also used wirenuts etc
i have since removed the stock ecm harness and the right side bulkhead harness,
i switched to a standalone ecm thats why i pulled the ecm harness out (converted back to tpi)
i have the new ecm wired and started putting the right side bulkhead connector back in im stuck with a few wires that i dont know were they go
first up this box nexto the relays is the maf burnoff/relay correct??
net up i know one of these is the fuel pump relay whats the other?? and is the fp relay on the left or the right ??
also which plug goes to what relay and were to the wires go
the tan one i know goes back to the bulkhead i cut that one myself
and all the oranges wee linked together between both relays and the maf relay i belive
and finaly i have 5 loose wires left
the white one should be for the tach i belive,it has a connector on the end
the remaining 4 are
solid green
solid purple
solid tan
and
pink w/black stripe
this is the last of the wiring i have to do besides relocating my battery to the trunk ,and wiring the fans upto a switch

Re: 89 iroc bulkhead wiring (need help )
The relays - either plug can go to either relay - they are identical relays. One is fp, other probably fan. The connector that has a large black wire with red stripe is fan, other is fp. Based on your pics, I don't see any large black with red stripe wire, but the one on the right in your pic looks like fuel pump relay connector based upon the other wire colors.
The first thing - that is the Electronic Spark Module - it interacts with the distributor, ECM, and knock sensor to advance/retard timing.
Pink/black stripe - that could be almost anything - there are many of those wires. Kinda same with the others.
Solid green might be for the coolant temp sensor in the driver side head.
Here's wiring diags, at bottom of page are some pinouts for bulkhead connectors I think - might be listed under a 1992 car, but many of the driver side wires are identical between years. http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=19
Oh - was this car origianlly carbed, TBI, or TPI?

Re: 89 iroc bulkhead wiring (need help )
thanks man i got some answeres on another forum as well and diagrams which i will post too
the car was originally an 89 lp8 tpi iroc , somone did a pis poor job of converting it
they installed a sbc 400 with a non cc qjet
the one im thining for the fp is the one with
thick tan/white stripe = back to fp
thich orange = power feed from fusebox
thin black w/white stripe = elay ground
think red = fp prime circut and or relay trigger
thin dark blue = i dont know it dont show up in the diagram i hae but it was tied into the maf burnoff realy which also has a dark blue wire

Re: 89 iroc bulkhead wiring (need help )
im going to assume they are all instrument gauge sender wires for now, with the exception of the pink w/black wire which i know is 12v+
what ill do once im done is probe each wire with a test light to make sure non are 12v+ then ill ground each one and see if any of the gauges jump
by all rights it should be
coolant temp - head sensor
oil presure sensor
tach wire
and im going to assume one is for the volt gauge
for now ive focused on wiper wiring , fuel pump tach wire, and ecu power wire. This is how i stand now
