Canadian 82 Trans Am - is my odometer in kilometers?
I am the second owner of an 82 TA that until 2003 called Toronto home. It is now in the states, and although built in CA it is indeed has Canadian features such as the KPH speedo numbers on the outside, etc. I am customizing the dash which will feature a digital mph readout and a digital odometer in miles. So my question is, does my factory odometer read kilometers or miles? How can I tell other than trying to watch mile marker signs as I'm driving? lol I have always been under the impression it was in kilo, and I remember the guy who sold it to me had mentioned that. A friend of mine has the car in another state and we have been brainstorming over this issue.
Also, if it IS kilometers, I assume the digital US speedo/odometer components would simply hook up to the factory cable with no problems since it would be the components inside the gauge cluster itself that determine what the odometer displays, correct? I know the speedo is simply a matter of the graphic printed on the gauge either showing mph or kph so that shouldn't be an issue.
