Power door locks: central or Pneumatic?

Hi Everyone,

Been searching for almost an hour now, but couldn't find out the below.

Putting in an upgraded alarm and wiring diagram for it shows a positive central door locking system, a negative central door locking system and a Pneumatic system

Do our cars have a central system, if so is it positive or negative?

Or is it Pneumatic?

Thanks in advance!

Nobody knows what type of system we have? I have looked in the Haynes but it doesn't list power locks under "power locks", "Doors", "electrical", etc

Only pneumatic part of a 3rd gen would be the air bladders on the GTA seats inflatable lumbars. By pneumatic, I mean air.

Thanks, I found this page that lists most wires needed for alarm installs and believe it is a "Positive Central locking system"

http://www.p71interceptor.com/thirdgen/alarminfo/

The page lists the horn wire as negative pol. from the button.

Is the horn wire really negative? You would think they would ground it to the body so they would only have to run a single positive wire from the switch

The door locks are positive, you apply power to them to get them to lock, if it were the other way around, the door locks would always have power, and the switch would just ground it to get it to work. The horn buton is negative, it always recieves power and when you push it, it grounds and completes the circuit and blows.

Thank you!

So one wire (+) to lock (Blue) and one to unlock (+) (black), correct?

Weird about the horn I would think it would be grounded and pushing button completes circuit with (+) Being as it is, it will be tougher to have the horn honk on the parking light flash wire, when alarm is triggered, I think I can use a relay and reverse wiring to make the horn honk with the lights flashing.

Right, the locks are always grounded, one wire supplys + current to move the lock one way, the other wire supplies + current to move it the other way.

Re: Power door locks: central or Pneumatic?

The horn wire is a + wire that always has power when the key is on (or it might even be a constant 12v), when you push the horn down, theres a metal ring that contacts the metal of the steering column which finishes the ground side of the circuit, causing the horn to go off.
