temp sender or sensor on drivers side of block
89 RS LO3
I yanked my engine around Halloween. I have since had it rebuilt, dropped it back in and it runs fine. I'm still finishing the interior and body (resto project)
I have the factory service manual. On the drivers side, the sensor or sender shows as what provides data to the temp gauge on the dash panel.
As I read the wiring diagram, it appears that the connector should be within the same bundle as the O2 sensor and oil pressure sender. it's not.
I have looked far and wide through my entire harness and can't find the connector. I of course can't recall if it was connected or even existed when I yanked the engine.
Would someone please look under the hood and tell me where in the heck the connector is fed to within the harness???
maybe it got pushed back into the slotted plastic sleeve.
Maybe I'll just get one of those infant forehead thermometers and attach it to the block

Temp-er-tantrum
The harness starts from the firewall connector, then goes forward to the left header area, then breaks out with the O2 sensor as you said, therefore the PO probably moved the wire.

Re: Temp-er-tantrum
Your looking for a dark green wire, with a single female spade connector. There is a harness that goes behind motor from driver side to pass side, it exits that large harness right at the driver head, and the wire normally runs along top of intake to #1/#3 plug area.

Re: temp sender or sensor on drivers side of block
thanks
every time I do a major teardown or engine yank I label everything with hints, tips even arrows. I trust nothing to my memory and at times, even if I've done something several times, brain farts are known to occur so it's just good practice.
So, after plugging everything back in, using copious amounts of heat tape and tie wraps, I see that one sensor staring at me and taunting me. It knows that i can't find the wire or even remember if it ever existed.
If i keep the car, then i could probably care less. But, if I sell it, I then need to expalin that the temp gauge doesn't work.
That's kind of hokey for a car with
rebuilt engine
rebuilt tranny
serviced rear end with new bearings and seals
new brakes
new tires
new shocks/struts/bushings
all new hoses
new leather interior
new headliner, carpet, sun visors and interior panels
new paint
new compressor and accumulator
new weatherstripping
it's these little things that drive you nuts
