sending units

This might be a stupid question but I've never bought gauges before... do they generally come with the requiered sending units or do I have to buy those seperately.

Some Equus gages come with the sender.

It depends which ones you choose.

Re: sending units

ok thanks... one more question how much diff. is there between a 2" gauge and a 2 1/16" gauge? The pannel i found to use has holes cut for 2 1/16" gauges and the ones I wanted to use are 2?

Gage Page

The diameter doesn’t mean anything, it’s the quality that matters.

The 2” gages of course will fit into the 2 1/16” holes.

To center them you can build up the diameter with narrow tape, such as pin striping tape.

Then the locking ring can be applied.

Re: sending units

all right thanks... thats what i was thinking but i figured a secound opinion never hurts.

I have yet aother question dose anybody have a wiring diagram for the factory gauges for an 89 iroc (i looked at the diagrams on the autozone site but didn't see one). I was going to try to use the factory wireing and sending units were possible. I assume this would work right?

Yes to the wiring, maybe to the senders.

But you should be able to tell by the gage response if you have to replace the sender.

Also, you probably won’t need a diagram.

For example, where they supply you with a new temp sender, you simply replace the old sender, and use the same wire that went to it.

On the gage side, you’ll simply need
+, , and the sender wire that went to the old gage.
