Re: LED third brake light
What third brake light? Is it the light in the spoiler? Or the on on the outside of the hatch or the inside of the hatch? I would post pics to see how it looks!

Re: LED third brake light
Here it is Brdn. Here is the guts of my 3rd brake light. Now that I think of it, it may be rather difficult to do a custom mod for it. So I may just leave it as it is. Either way here it is so that you can get the general idea.

Re: LED third brake light
destroy as in never be able to use the incandescent bulbs again? yes, destroy as in completely hack the housing and just duct tape led strips behind? no. my work on this is top notch, the housings are throughly cleaned, modified, and resealed completely.

Re: LED third brake light
Sounds good. Just dont break your head over it. It aint such a big deal anyway. I wanna do some kind of custom cutout that covers the lens so that it reads IROC-Z. Kind of like this one but of course my brake light is up high.
But this is another topic.

Re: LED third brake light
Do you have some pictures to show your housing mod?
P.S. I'm not trying to steal your thunder, I'd just like to see how the mod was done!!
I know that the above statement sounds like a loaded question, but I wouldn't steal your idea to market this, that's not my style!!

Re: LED third brake light
Bought a LED 3rd brakelight kit from soneone on this Board few years back for $9.00 shipped. Delux kit consisted of a Resistor with plugs for the regular hardness and (5) LEDs that pluged into the stock fixture. Took about 15 minutes to install and still working with no problems.

Re: LED third brake light
what i am doing here, is deleting the stock fixture on the back of the housing all together, this setup i do puts 100 automotive grade LEDs INSIDE the housing, and sealed off from the elements. this is pure plug n play, 5 minute install. I'm doing this for $50.00 + shipping.

Have you got a picture of the back of the housing once it's all done, before it's installed???
It looks good from the outside, how is the electrical connection made, since the stock bulb fixture is being deleted???
Have you got cores, or does the client have to provide a core???
