Adding Fog/Driving Lights 88 Camaro

Hi. I did a search on fog lights and didn't find an answer. I have a 1988 Camaro that does not have fog lights. Is it possible to add them? Do all Camaros have the mounting holes for the brackets? I know I would need a new grill as well. Thanks for your replies in advance.

If you have the grille piece, you could just pull it out & put the fog lights in. The Z28/IROC piece is not REQUIRED, but it hides the ugly edges & stuff.

Most likely, the wiring is already there. You'd just need a switch inside (stock or otherwise, doesn't matter), a relay to power then & your good to go.

Re: Adding Fog/Driving Lights 88 Camaro

The wiring is usually on the INSIDE of the car under the dash for the OEM switch (which can be found on ebay). BUT - the outside wiring (from the cabin to the lights) is usually NOT there - the wiring goes into the C100 connector but never comes out on the underhood side.

I used an aftermarket foglight that was similar, and wired them with a relay to the wires from the OEM switch connector, and picked up an OEM switch from ebay. The holes are already in the front nose on the bottom to mount foglights there, so almost any aftermarket light will work.

Can you send me the link for the aftermarket fog lights? Also, what is the relay for? Is it to turn the fog lights off when the high beams are on??

Re: Adding Fog/Driving Lights 88 Camaro

I used the Blazer lights from Walmart like $20. They are a decent light, but I hate the plastic housings, makes them difficult to adjust. Any brand you come across that are rectangular will work and look almost factory.

The relay is used to power the fogs - that way there's no high amperage wiring running from cabin to outside car. I have it wired so that the switch sends out 12v+ to the relay which is under the hood, this activates the relay which takes power directly from battery to burn the fogs.

So relay has 4 prongs...
1) 12v+ from switch
2) ground
3) 12v+ IN from battery
4) 12v+ OUT to fogs
