Where's the Horn Dude?
This is probably a Stupid question:
I have a 1982 Sport Coupe. Where is the Horn Physically Located? If you can't tell me that, can you tell me how to identify the wire? I have just replaced my Steering Column and i tried out the Adapter kit that i bought to put on the wheel and have a working horn. When i put the hardware on and touch the lead to the adapter block, i hear an electrical Click. That means that the circuit has been completed, but what i should hear instead is the Horn. What should i look for next?
BTW, does the 1982 have a computer AT ALL? Hopefully the answer is no.

Re: Where's the Horn Dude?
The actual horn is in front of the driver side wheel, in the fender. There may be two in tandem, my 89 has two. Should be a single green wire going to each.

Thank you........ Looked at your Avatar. I guess you're a Bubble Head. I did my time on a Tender. It was Orion AS-18, but that was a VERY long time ago.

Re: Where's the Horn Dude?
I went outside and found it!! thanks! Someone connected a YELLOW wire to it and it goes through the firewall and ends without being attached to ANYTHING in the car. Now, I need to know what wire on the Column to connect it to so that my horn will work on the steering wheel.

Re: Where's the Horn Dude?
Looks like a 700r4 to me, but I'm no expert. The Carb is aftermarket. It's an Edelbrock 600CFM. This car has been hacked, and Hacked, and hacked. When i found the horn, they had just wrapped the bare wire around the male connecter on the horn. I can't believe they didn't spend like $0.30 to crimp on a Female Connector.

I used to be, I've been retired 10 years and have a civilian job now. Did 11 patrols on 3 boats (all SSBN) - Pulaski, Alabama, Ohio, as well as two years forward deployed on a bathymetric survey ship (T-AGS-38, USNS Hess) collecting data for submarine navigation.

Re: Where's the Horn Dude?
the 700 is bigger than the 200 ....... easy way is 3 speed for 200 4 for 700
i thought the early thirds had th350's when i first started messing with em (10 years ago) ..... but then i looked under it said thats no th350 looked it up in my book and duh it was the 200c
if you got a edelbrock than its no longer c.c. ..... the computer may still be under the dash

Re: Where's the Horn Dude?
Not that Alabama The Navy has a habit of reusing names on their ships. The one I was on (SSBN 731) was the 4th with the name IIRC. The guys that rode those sewer pipes like the Drum had big brass ones.

Re: Where's the Horn Dude?
It's done, The Horn works. Now, hopefully, it still works when i attach the Steering Wheel. It looks like it will though. I removed the External Horn Button that someone had installed. I can't believe how lazy some people can be. I would much rather have a Working horn on the wheel than some Gaudy Switch that's obviously out of place on the dash. Sheeez!
