Battery Chargers ?

If you had to choose between these two chargers what would you pick and why.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Schumacher...#ProductDetail or this one http://www.walmart.com/ip/Schumacher...ndingMethod=rr
Just click on "product details" on the page to get a idea of what they can do.

Re: Battery Chargers ?

Hate the fancy digitals big box ones, simple on and off old type big box ones work better, you want a 100amp jump start atleast.

But this $8 charger does better then my big one good one.
Floaters just work better. Saved lots of battires for me and brought em back from the dead better. But they aren't instant action, you ned a day or so when using it, or for storage.

They key to them is its floating and not a trickle charger.

I have several of them now.

Re: Battery Chargers ?

Bwtween the 2, take the 12 amp - it will charge an auto battery faster, but it still has the smaller settings for motorcyle and smaller amp batteries.

Personally, I'll make another recommendation - http://www.blackanddecker.com/Produc...roductID=15578

This charger is amazing for the price! I've had it 3+ years now, it charges at 15,10, and 2 amps. It automatically switches from 15 or 10 down to 2 when battery is full, and will trickle charge until disconected. It will "refresh" a battery by charging in a manner that eliminates the build up on the plates inside. It will recondition as well (totally discharge and then recharge). It tells current charge in amps, and tells current volts. It will do gel, lead acid, and deep cycle. Has alternator testing as well (although I've never tried it before). It will tell you if there's dead cells, it will detect when a battery might need reconditioning. The thing is simply amazing for the $50 price tag! Think my wife got it at Walmart on sale for like $40 - but I don't see B&D at walmart.com anymore.

Re: Battery Chargers ?

You may have no need for the following, but if you're like me and don't drive everyday (sometimes weeks in the winter), you might consider CarQuest's 1005 trickle charger. It mounts inconspicuously beside the battery. Pop the hood and plug in.
