Driver information center keeps blowing fuses
Hi I've searched for over an hour now and it doesn't seem anyone posted this problem.
The fuse keeps blowing and this in turn makes the speedo all over the place. I know the horn, int. lights, power door locks and DIC are also on this circuit so it could be anyone of these blowing the fuse. I haven't' changed anything recently, except the alternator which was a rebuild by AC Delco
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

The dash has a separate fuse, the GAGES fuse.
What is the name of the fuse that blows?

Re: Driver information center keeps blowing fuses
Sorry if I wasn't clear the digital gauges and speedo works, but speedo jumps from 0 to 85 back to 20 in a second or so, its the odometer that is blank.
That fuse is also with the horn, power mirrors & door locks, and heater blower motor. The letters are worn off and couldn't make out the name, but I could make out "20" - worse I notice a buzzing coming from the odometer (below driver info center), the DIV is working I thought both weren't (Odometer and DIC) but it's only the odometer that is blank.
Anyone ever have the odometer buzz and keep blowing fuses? It is in the 3rd row up on the right hand side right beside the silver metal circuit breaker? the one closest to the seat. Sorry - Iv'e searched google, these forums, etc. for a fuse panel diagram without success.

Re: Driver information center keeps blowing fuses
trying to remove the odometer display (under driver info center) the DIC comes out but the odometer seems to be one piece, please tell me this isn't so.
I was hooping to pull it out and reassemble and still drive the car while trying to repair in my spare time... maybe a capacitor etc...
It has to come out without the whole dash right?

Re: Driver information center keeps blowing fuses
Sad but Happy to say it wasn't the cars fault, it was mine. I still can't believe it was a metal bolt in my cigarette lighter. I have been using a fm transmitter that plugs into the lighter and then tired a cassette adapter and this sounded much better, so I only use the lighter to charge the mp3 player when necessary. Anyway, I don't smoke so my ash tray is a coin and temp small part holder, so I don't loose any when working on the ride. Turns out a bolt that holds the black plastic under dash pad (with light) bounced into the lighter socket. Seriously still can't believe I didn't notice this till Sunday...
Took it out and changed the fuse and it is fine now.
