Suggest a 4-pin connector to me!
My reasons are a bit complicated, but basically Im hoping to wire up an aftermarket tach using some kind of plug/socket. I;ve already got another tach that's wired identically mounted in the car, but this one is much nicer, and due to that and some other reasons, I'd much rather snip the wires and add a connector than rewire it.
But Im no electrician, I've never messed around with making any kind of socketed connector. Anyone know of any 4-pin connector that woudl be good for this? Would prefer something smaller, but something that I can actually put together with regular tools, or if I need a special tool for it, at least that it'd be cheap. I dont really know much about what's available, but it's the most elegant solution for me I think. So if anyone could point me in the right direction that'd be awesome.

Not sure what you're asking
An inline connector to be able to quickly remove the new electronics would be simple. Find a generic 4 pin weather pack from a parts store, radioshack (maybe), or the easiest being a used one from a JY car
For a specific connector that plugs into the tach, ask the manufacturer

4-pin weather pack for automotive applications. You would probably need to crimp pins.
or
4-pin connector from a computer (interior use only) You could get away with buying this cheap extension which contains both male and female plugs, cut it in half and connect to the wires.

just go to the junkyard and look around different engine bays from different cars. I've grabbed a few for the same reason. I normally don't hardwire interior accessories so I can quick disconnect them during disassembly...
