new car alarm
Guys, I got another question. I want to install my new car alarm but Im confused. The wiring diagram for the alarm says.... (-) Door Trigger Input Green Wire--To (-) Door Switch Wire and (+) Door Trigger Input Violet Wire---To (+) Door Switch Wire.
My 86 IROC has this type of door trigger which is one wire. Door TriggerWhite (-) Driver's Pin Switch
So do I connect the Green Wire (-) to the White (-) Drivers Pin Switch?

Re: new car alarm
let me suggest that you visit a site that I frequent for electronic install stuff...
http://www.the12volt.com/
They have the wiring for every car you can think of and all the alarm install info you could possibly need.
Good luck

Re: new car alarm
Funny that u mentioned that site. thats how I know about my Door (-) Switch Wire. But I dont understand the literature of the installation manual. It says to hook up the + & - Door Trigger inputs to the + &- Door Switch Wire. The problem is that there is only the door trigger wire which is (-) negative. So with that said, what do I do with the
alarms Door Trigger input wire? My Camaro doesnt have the Door (+) Switch Wire, jsut the White Door trigger wire.

Re: new car alarm
is it possible that you only need to use either the + or the - wire.
Some alarms do in fact come programmable to use either a + or - trigger. It's a user settable feature on some.
Can you furnish me with the alarm model and possibly a link to an online viewable manual?
I'll read up on it and let you know my findings.
Edit:
Ok I've looked at this for you and I'm not sure what you want to do.
Are you trying to wire up the alarm to sense the door opening or are you trying to wire the door unlock.
From what I guess it's the first one.
So I'd say that you only wire into the - wire for the alarm.
Seems to me that this is an either or option for the alarm module.
I'd try just wiring the green wire and should be golden.
Hope this was of some help.

Re: new car alarm
Well I just found out the the Absolute Alarm model AL-600 was burned out. But I bought a alarm for $10 that has the very same wiring as the AL-600 My problem is that I dont know the brand name of the alarm. It's got no box to it and on the "brain" it reads "POINT." Does anyone know what kind of car alarm it is?
