Horn suggestions

Hey gang - any suggestions on a good quality and loud aftermarket horn to install on my 88 GTA? I've always been a fan of airhorns, but they seem to belong on civics - not muscle cars like these. Yet, I also don't want something so loud that it sounds like it belongs on a train. In between is ideal - nice a loud, catches your attention (like that of an airhorn), but also 'muscle' sounding vs being abnoxiously loud. Oh yeah - budgets are always an issue. Need something relatively cheap. Any insights would be awesome. THANKS guys!

Re: Horn suggestions

When my horn went out, I just went to the junkyard and found some oddball horn from like a Mercedes or Volvo or something, but sorry I can't recommend a "muscle" horn. Maybe something off a big truck...?

I just think it is amusing that you can actually get horns that sound like ones on trains.. One on a thirdgen would just be completely hilarious.

*Edit
Okay, that is that. Someone here needs to install one of those horns in their car and post a video of it barreling down the highway with the horn blaring.

Nothing Like A BIG Horn

Try some from the older, better Cadillacs.

We definitely need some oomph out there to wake up the idiots that take forever to get on the gas when the light turns green.

Happy Racing!

When you see fog lights on in good weather beware. Low performance driver ahead.

How bout those nervous nellies too scared to drive without headlights on in the daytime or if there is a little rain!

Re: Nothing Like A BIG Horn

Autozone and Advance (as well as most anyone else) sell some nice aftermarket LOUD horns for pretty cheap - I got a simple car horn for my motorcycle that was really loud for like $12 - way better than the "meep meep" from a stock Honda motorcycle horn!

Re: Horn suggestions

I think air horns are alright. They used to only be on muscle cars.

Re: Horn suggestions

i put a twin-trumpet hadley air horn off a truck on mine
(still have the original electric horns operable, seperate
button for the air) my air horn was a fairly complicated
setup with a thomas industries conpressor, air tank etc.
-relocated the battery to the spare tire well to make
room for the compressor and tank sometimes i feel i
need to be wearing a train engineer's cap when i blow
the air horn

Re: Horn suggestions

Thanks guys. Was kind of hoping someone might have a specific horn model / website they've purchased from that would give me the quality I'm looking for. So I guess my search goes on!! Really sux that most of these sites don't let you hear what the horns sound like before purchasing them. A lot of common sense to me I guess isn't common sense to these web designers.
