Python 460hp alarm install yes I searched

Ok guys I just got a python 460hp alarm and bestbuy wants 250.... F that. But it's a standard 12 wire alarm. I found schmatics for the t/a and the wireing guide for the alarm but I don't know what the wires mean like siren output, ignition input zone 5 . I really want to do this myself. Also I don't have power locks but they are locked everywhere I go. So please help. Also I know the basics I've done amps and stereos before and I know howto do wireing. So maybe if someone has a dctionary that would be great.

Re: Python 460hp alarm install yes I searched

well I'll start off by saying that not all the wires are used up. They include all the wires because they know there are a bunch of different cars in can go in. But its pretty simple to install. I've installed my remote start system on my own. Just install the stuff you know and we (I) will help out the rest...

Re: Python 460hp alarm install yes I searched

ok thanks guys I went to the 12 volt and got the guide but there are wires that I don't know what they mean like 200 mA channel 2 output, Siren output, ignition input zone 5, things like that but it is nice to know I have people in board.

Re: Python 460hp alarm install yes I searched

i didn't get to do much alarms because i was just an intern but the siren output hooks up to the red wire on your siren that goes under your hood. you don't hardly ever use all the wires if its no on the list for that web site then it isn't used

Re: Python 460hp alarm install yes I searched

well without knowing to much about the alarm system I can tell you my best educated guess but double check

(-)200mA channel 2 output this will be for some kind of auxiliary add on like a power hatch or something
(+)12v power input pretty simple just need constant 12 volts
(+)siren output this will wire into your siren input
(+)Ignition input zone 5 not sure what zone 5 is all about but I'm sure any ignition wire would work
(-)Chassis ground again pretty simple just find a good clean place for a ground
(+)Door trigger zone 3 not exactly sure but I would assume this would be for sensing if the doors are open or not, which you would find with the pin in the door jamb (that you push in and the interior lights go off release it they go back on) and find out which wire from there
(-)Instant trigger zone 1 not sure on this one
(-)Door trigger zone 3 I would assume it would be the same as the other trigger zone but my hunch would be that you would use this one instead since it is a (-) polarity
(-)200mA domelight output this you would wire into the domelight switch
(-/+)Parking light output again wire this into the parking light switch
(-)200mA CH3 output another auxiliary add on I'm assuming like a power window roll up feature or anything else you can imagine
(-)500 mA armed output this one is kind of confusing with out knowing if it is a constant output or a single pulse output my guess is it is a constant output and is used to add additional sensors but I'm not sure so you should double check

Just to let you know I have never installed an alarm system but I have installed several remote start systems and from what I have read they are very similar as you look for a lot of the same wires. I'm sure it will be pretty easy though.

Also on a side note these channel 2 or 3 output with the (-) polarity can not be wired directly to whatever your going to power they need to be wired through a relay which isn't difficult just a little more work. Also the channel 2 or 3 probably is controlled by different buttons on the remote. Let me know if you have any other questions I just glanced at these but if there are any other questions I will look into your alarm system and find out exactly.

Re: Python 460hp alarm install yes I searched

Alright thank you I just need 5 wires now. The starter, acc, tach, brake switch, and horn (not siren). I got all of these off the guide on the 12 volt for an 82-87 firebird since I have an 85 t/a, but same thing. So when I get those figured out I'll be ready to go thank you guys again

Re: Python 460hp alarm install yes I searched

well I would check to see if the wires you got off of 12volt work do you know how to test them if not let me know I can walk you through exactly how to test them to know you have the right wires

Re: Python 460hp alarm install yes I searched

http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=407
install manual for the 460hp (may have to register on the12volt.com to view) then go to downloads at the top and search python

i'm not seeing some of the wires you were looking for (5th ignition input?)

bitwriter... you won't have this, it's an expensive reader tool that is used by shops to program the alarm.

the lock harness, skip it

so basically you'll have ground (black)
red - power at all times (battery)
door trigger negative (green wire from alarm to white wire on the door pin/domelight) this says "door is open"
cut the purple because your car is door pin negative not positive.
white wire is for lights, connect to brown wire at the headlight switch
brown from alarm is for siren, it goes to the siren simply
red/white is for trunk pop, doubt your car has it but it would go to the switch
want a starter kill? you need to relay the orange and cut into your ignition harness. otherwise forget
want the domelight to come on upon unlock? need a relay for that as wired in picture
blue is another door pin but you can connect it to the hatch light or hood so if either open the alarm is triggered... optional.
yellow is ignition input. zone 5... that's not important. basically it needs power like your heater controls when the key is on run and no other state. yellow wire in ignition harness or you can tap into the heater/ac wires or maybe at the fuse box there's a port you can plug into.
white/blue, an optional output for an accessory... like a train horn idk

ask for clarification on anything and i'll get back to you, or if you actually want to use the starter kill i'll school you on it

Re: Python 460hp alarm install yes I searched

Ok thanks alot. I got it installed except for the door pin. I have 2 white wires and a orange or brown wire so 3 total. The two white wires go into the same terminal and the other wire is on it's own terminal on the door pin. So which wire is the one?

Re: Python 460hp alarm install yes I searched

this is the only thing I had trouble with when I installed my remote start. It sounds like it's one of the white wires you need to tap into. The way to test this would be to take a test light and hook it up to a power source and probe any one of the wires and the one that lights your test light when the switch is out and shuts off when you push the switch is the wire you will need

white, any one. test with test light so it should see a ground when door is open and nothing when door is closed.
