my gas gauge is maxed out
I bought a 82 trans am that hasn't run in a bit. so i got it running good and filled it with 5 gallons of gas. before i filled it the gas gauge read empty now its beyond full. noway 5 gallons filled it up.
well my ? is were was the fuel level sending unit and the ground? cus i think 1 of them is the problem.

Re: my gas gauge is maxed out
the sending unit is inside the tank, youll have to drop the tank to mess with it, im not sure on the ground as im wondering that myself, but i do know the wires for it run right above the rear axle and there is a plug that the wires run through mounted on the body in that area above the rear axle
although im not sure if it would be different in an 82 or not

im not sure, possibly, someone else would know better than i would, too dark to go out and look at mine right now, but now that i think about it, there is a ground spot under the drivers side back seat, it comes in through the body and grounds to the body under the seat, but again, might be different on an 82..
