Re: radio whistles?

sounds like a problem with the radio-probably the usuall
broken solder joints-easy fix if you used to electronics
repairs.

Re: radio whistles?

Well 8t2,since I don't know that much about these types radios how about a little more detail? I sure could use it?

If this will help it has the graphic equalizer and tape deck built in.
I can put a tape in deck and it still just whistles.
If I turn the volume,or tune **** it has numbers across the dial that go higher,or lower.
Any clue now? Does it still sound like a solder problem?
How would you go about checking all these problems?
Is there a tutorial somewhere in this generation three?
Thanks for all you advice,
jdracingyeah,what he said...

That is a good question? I will check that later today.

P.S.The tape deck doesn't seem to play either,no music.
Also, the volume, and tuner ***** cause numbers to be on the display. Only one number at a time, not like a station.
It also has the EQ on it.
Does this make any diffrence?
jdracing....

And how do you get the list of your cars under your posting??

Re: radio whistles?

totally sounds like the solder joint problem-will have to
disassemble the radio, carefully check each circuit board
for broken solder joints(especially where wiring plugs
into the boards and behind where the speaker/power
plugs into the radio)resolder the bad connections and
reassemble-radio will probably work I have fixed lots
of these, getting ready to do an '84 vette radio with
symptoms much like those of your radio, though this
one will sometimes play LOL.

Re: radio whistles?

actually real easy on a third-just remove the four torx
screws to remove the trim panel, the four 7mm screws
holding the radio to the inner support, then carefully
remove the radio(beware the faceplates on these like
to come unclipped and pull away from the radio) there
will be 3 speaker/power plugs that unclip and unplug,
1 memory wire to unplug, and the antenna wire to unplug.
Would be glad to fix yours if you send it i have stacks
of parts radios if any parts are needed(unlikely)
