MSD ignition install (6AL, Billet Distributor, SS coil)
Originally had an Accel HEI distributor, but since nitrous needs a timing retard I figured I'd upgrade everything. First I removed the A/C and blower motor, then fabricated a sheet metal panel to mount the ignition box and coil to.
After removing the HEI distributor, the oil pump drive of course didn't line up so I had to use my best judgment as to where to aim the rotor and install the cap. As for the panel, I started with a cardboard template then trimmed to fit and marked the holes to be drilled then transferred it to the metal.
And of course......no project would be complete without me having to custom fabricate something unforeseen. The bolt hole that's used to hold down the distributor is stripped........so I used the bolt hole to the right of the original one. Since it's a few inches higher, I had to cut and weld the distributor hold down to work with the higher bolt hole. Ended up working great.
Throttle response is awesome, and the car runs great.
