OBD 1 to OBD 2

hey guys I'm doing an engine swap on my car and need some help here. background: its a 1991 firebird 3.1L V6...I have a 383TPI built sitting I'm going to put in when I get out of school soon. I have all the wiring and new computer but I was wondering what all it would take to convert my OBD1 connection to an updated OBD2...What is needed? How do I go about this? Thanks

Re: OBD 1 to OBD 2

first you get the biggest hammer you can find and then hit yourself in the head, now that you have the headache part out of the way!!!! why would you want to go OBD2, it is quite the complex system, and if you have problems there are way fewer people to help you figure it out. basickly you would be pionering your own system. The only major advantage of OBD2 is the processor is quite a bit faster, but there are more inputs and outputs. I resarched this idea as well I thought that OBD2 sequential injection on a TPI would be the cats meow. BUT!!! the work and hart ake aint worth the performance gain in my book. just my 2 cense

Car: 92 RS Camaro
Engine: 305 TBI
Transmission: T5
Axle/Gears: 3.08
Re: OBD 1 to OBD 2

If you were sticking with the 3.1 I would say do it and convert to the FWD top end. But since your going to TPI system it wouldn't do much for ya anyways since all the gains you could potentially get from OBD2 the TPI intake will gladly keep away from you. OBD2 is easier to tune but if you upgrade your OBD1 computer you can save alot of trouble for a more adjustable setup.
