Door Ajar switch for 88 GTA didgi dash
I picked up a 1988 GTA today with the digital dash from my friend. Everything on the digi dash and DIC works great, except it doesn't say when the driver's door is open. We pulled the door panel and found the door ajar switch wrapped up in tape sitting at the bottom of the door. It doesn't appear to be damaged.
What I am trying to find out is where exactly is goes so I can fix it. I have the 88 firebird service manual and all it says is "on each center lock pillar." What exactly is that, and does anyone have any pics/drawings/diagrams or just info as to how the switch attaches there? If so, I would appreciate it; thanks!

Re: Door Ajar switch for 88 GTA didgi dash
I did a complete digital dash conversion on my 1990 GTA. I used all the guts from the tail lamp harness all the way to the headlamps from a 1988 gta. That Piece you are talking about is held in by one screw " i think 8mm or 7mm" not sure. Your best bet would be to take the latch out ( be careful of those Rods for the door handle, Lock and inner door handle) there are plastic clips that hold them in and sometimes are brittle. When you Take that latch out you will find by the latch itself ( the black piece that latches to the door striker bolt on the body) will be a screw hole. Place the sensor switch in there and use a screw tht fits the hole to secure it. Once you see where it goes you will be able to determine how it goes in ( trigger facing the latch).
It sounds like the latch was once replaced with maybe an older latch that didnt have that screw to replace the sensor in the latch. My 1990 had the hole there to place that sensor in. i wish I had some pics for you, but Im away for the thanksgiving holiday. Hope this helps, any other questions PM Me

That sounds about right. I was figuring it must attach to the latch somehow, given how it looks. I just had no idea how it attached. As far as the latch being replaced, it very well could have been, it appears to be the original door, so the door was probably never replaced, but the latch may have broke.
Anyhow, I think I grasp what you're saying, I'll take a peek at it later. Thanks!

On second thought, I may need a pic or drawing, if you have one available. I looked at it today but can't quite figure it out. If you could get me that, I would really appreciate it
