First off, what year is the TPI setup? Wiring might be different, and so you might want to get the dash & light harness from the TPI car as well. Manual/automatic shouldn't matter to much with factory wiring, as they came with a plug for manual and one for automatic. If you can't get most of the donor wiring from the TPI car, then you'll need to purchase some manuals with good wiring diagrams (I'd recommend Helm), one from the year/model TPI car, and one for your car. Then spend some time checking out all the connections to see what you need to change in order to convert your '88 to the TPI wiring.

That's some real good advise ! There were MAJOR changes in the engine harness after 86(7). Chevy merged the Engine and the ECM harnesses together in later years and added other wiring that was needed ( for Fog lights in 88, SIR in 89 ect... )
The fact that your going from auto to manual with the wiring helps. The Auto system has wires plugs for the TCC lock-up that you will not need. You may need to re-wire / splice the reverse light plug - but that's about it.
Take super_kev 's Advise !
