Hi !

I have been developing a arc starter for tig weldind, ie the high frequency unit that provide the arc starting without the electrode touching the work.

So far I have some success with
1 - Arc starter with traditional transformer 230/3600V 60Hz with open spark gap (heavy, old fashion, but still in use im many commercial tig machines),
and
2- Arc starter using a small electronic transformer w/ open spark gap.(the electronic transformer replaces the old style transformer)

Now I m looking to assemble a complete electronic unit (no open spark gap). The spark gap will be repaced by a SCR, IBGT, SIDAC or similar device .

So, Id like to interchange ideas or evem schematics in order to construct a complete electronic tig arc starter.

I need some help in obtain information regarding the electronis used in the modern tig machines .
