1991 Camaro RS - Gauge, Shifter, Climate lights not working
So I blew a fuse (5 amp to LID or something.) and replaced it with all I had, a 20 amp (bad choice I know) to get home that night. The next day the bulbs were blown I am guessing since the fuse is still whole but no gauge / shifter / climate lights work. I can get the climate and shifter bulbs changed. BUT HOW DO I CHANGE THE GAUGE CLUSTER LIGHTS??? I don't know how to get in there!
If anyone can post a tutorial for getting the cluster out I would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT so I can drive at night without a flashlight in my lap!

Maybe you have the wrong fuse? The LID fuse is for the trunk lid, meaning the hatch pulldown motor. Of course it'd blow a 5A fuse in a heartbeat, it needs a 15A fuse.
For your gauge lights, you need to look for the INST LPS fuse. It's probably blown. Because it's VERY unlikely that the lightbulbs would all blow at once.
If the INST LPS fuse is good, check the TAIL fuse. It powers your tail lights AND the INST LPS fuse.
If you still can't find the problem, it might be in the light switch dimmer, try to turn it and wiggle it, it might be getting old.
Hope this helps.

P.S.: If you have a test light, you can test for power in the fusebox, we can do that next.

ALL fuses are good. Yes, INST LPS was the one I blew, but that is still fine. I think the bulbs are blown, I will check the shifter later. I need to get the gauge cluster out anyways. The gauges work just not the lights in it.

it wont be the bulbs. They current limit themselves.
Hook a single bulb driectly to the battery and it wont blow.
By putting in the 20 amp fuse when you had a short you forced something else to become the fuse. I'm guessing you melted the wire or melted a plug connection or maybe melted the dimmer switch innards.

An easy way to check is to turn the parking lights on and stick a test light in the slot for the INST LPS fuse. One side should normally have power. If it does, the problem is downstream from the fuse, i.e. wires. If it doesn't, I would suspect the dimmer in the headlight switch.
Hope this helps.
