Is my fuel sending unit fried?
Before I started the project of aftermarket gauges I took an ohm reading to order the correct fuel gauge.Checked ohms again before splicing wires to make sure I had the correct wires. It's an Autometer Phantom gauge by the way,Directions were not making sense so I hooked it up the way I thought was correct.Turns out I put the key switched positive on the same leg as the black wire from the sender.Kept blowing the cluster fuse and started digging and realized what I did Checked ohms behind the rear seat and am only showing .5,before it was around 25 with about 5gallons in the tank.Gauge still moves off the peg but shows empty, makes sense, so I don't think I hurt the gauge.
Would this act of stupidity burned up the sending unit?
I just put the rearend and stuff back in it a couple of weeks ago and the factory gauge was working.
