Eliminating the stock distributor. EDIST

I have a 1991 GTA 350 with a L98 engine. 0nly 54K miles.
I want to replace the stock distributor with an electronic F.A.S.T. EDist or Motec coil per cylinder system. Similar to an LS1,LS2 System.

The L98 is a sequential spark firing system. One spark plug fires at a time.

I need to know and confirm every function the stock distributor does and then create a checklist of parts I will need.

I believe the Stock distributor does three functions:
1. Provides a signal to the Tachometer.
2. Distributes the Spark to each plug.
3. Serves some oiling function for the rear camshaft bearings. Acts like an oil pump. I think ???
AM I correct so far or did I miss something ?

SO I think I need:
1. A Crank / Cam trigger for the tachometer
2. 8 MSD Coil Packs. Wondering if I can use 4 dual output coils ???
3. Plug wires.
4. F.A.S. T. Edist
5. Laptop Computer
6. Tools to find #1 T.D.C.
7. A Corvette or MSD Pump shaft. I need the GM shaft part number.
8. F.A.S.T custom Wiring harness.
9. 8 new Bosch Platinum +4 plugs.

AM I correct so far or did I miss some parts ?
Personally I want to eliminate the shaft all together if possible, to reduce parasitic loss and just plug up the hole in the lower manifold. Maybe run an oil line into the hole.

I am sure someone has done this and I would like to chat with them.
Yes I have contacted F.A.S.T already. They only know their system, the electronic end.

It annoys me that their is no search function to find old articles here. I know I saw this topic here before but that was years ago.

Also cost is not an issue.

Please help me with this project. I need facts and details.
thank you

Here is something similar. Kind of like a homemade designed coil pack setup for a LT1 using ford parts. I've only kind of looked at this but am considering building this kind of system someday.

Well....If you are thinking the stock L98/TPI are sequential fire engines...Sorry, they aren't.

They are batch fire. 4 cylinders fire...The other 4....The first 4.....etc.

LT1s weren't SFI either. Not until the LSx came out, other than the Vortec engines, did SFI appear on a SBC.
