Digital dash swap (searched)
Hi guys,
First of all I did my search and found absolutely 0 information on swaping 92 analog to GTA digital dash.
Now, from what I found you need the whole harness to have sensors and displays working. However, I don't want that. I just want Speedo,Tach, voltage, fuel, coolant temp, oil pressure to work. Everything else I will be taking out and actually putting in a small MP3 unit along with a GPS device.
Now, i know that these cars for the previously mentioned guages have SAME senosors. My question to you.
Can I splice those wires from my system (just for the mentioned guages) to the digi dash?
thanks.

Re: Digital dash swap (searched)
Ok here is what I have to work with.
I took out the cluster with the connectors for speedo, guages and the DIC (which I am not using). Here is the speedo connector and the rest of guages.
Here is the DIC that I also took. I took it because it might need to be powered on at least for some of the control (this is where I would need your help).
Oh, and if you guys can think of anything that I need to get off of the donor car let me know. Its still in the JY.
Also, the engine harness and everything under the engine bay is GONE, so keep that in mind. Interior is in tact.

Re: Digital dash swap (searched)
Anyone have a manual for 88 cars??? If you do could you PLEASE, PLEASE just scan the wiring stuff for me. I really dont want to buy the whole manual just for that one diagram.
Somebody's gotta have some insight into this.

Re: Digital dash swap (searched)
Ok, I am intending for this to be a write up (I hope) of how to change the two.
I have aqcuired the digital dash wiring schematics along with the OHM resistance from all sending units. So far it seems that 88 and up fully digital dashes with analog guages have the same sending units. At least for fuel/tach/water temp/ oil pressure/ speedo/volts. The DIC center has its own spearate wire cluster (that I wont be using), but you still have to wire up the power to it.
Now I need 1992 dash wiring schematics. If anyone has them please send them to me.

Re: Digital dash swap (searched)
I am VERY interested in doing EXACTLY what you are doing. I am buying a cluster off a member here, and only want the basic guages, and odometer to work. The DIC is useless to me.
I was wondering if you had gotten anywhere with this, and if you could share some your info with me. Does the cluster bolt right up into the analog dash physically? Can you just cut and splice in the digital dash's wiring and get it to work? Sounds like it should in theory, but I've worked on these cars long enough to know that most theories that make sense don't lol. So, andy help you can give me is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
Thanks, Kevin

Curiously, why are you trying to do it? I'm trying to REMOVE my digital dash and go analog.. Digital sucks.

Re: Digital dash swap (searched)
do a search on my screen name. I did a complete refit of a 1988 digital into a 1989 analog t/a, to include the VATS. I went from the ground up, and have all the wiring diagrams and common wire colors. Now as far as the 1992 stuff not too sure, but it is definitely in your favor having the VSS. Oh and anesthes lemme know hen you get ready to swap, i am intreseted in some of the wiring.
