You should have figured this out by now, but anyway; one of the red wires powers the light switch and a few light-related fuses, the other red wire powers the ignition switch and all the other fuses. They connect to the battery through separate fusible links. The purple is the crank signal to the solenoid.

Re: what wires power fuse box

please pardon my ignorance to the topic. So I need to conect the purple to the starter. I do have a cut red wire in front of the battery and think the red wire that connects to the ignition is suppose to be connected with it to make one wire. Can I run the red wires directly to he battery, because when i look at the diagrams all the red wires are hot all the time. I have 3 thick red wires that are cut, but even if two of the red wires where suppose to be one, if i hook them up to the battery will it do any harm??? I could also put a fuse inbetween them to make it safer. Thanks for the help

Re: what wires power fuse box

The purple coming out from the firewall is supposed to connect to the small post on the starter. The red ones from the firewall are originally connected to the big post on the starter (that is connected direcly to the battery). Use separate fuses for each red wire, and use the big kind, at least 50-60 Amps I think. That way, if you get a catastrophic short in the light circuit you won't lose ignition power. One of the red wires you refer to might be for the alternator charging circuit. Any fuses there must be substantially larger than the alternator capacity.
I can't be any more specific since I don't have the same car as you. If you post a link to a wiring diagram for your car I might be able to provide further advice.
