MECHANICAL TO ELECTRIC SPEEDO PROBLEM

MECHANICAL TO ELECTRIC SPEEDO PROBLEM
I JUST PUT TOGETHER AN87 GTA AND SWAPPED OUT THE 700R4 TO A T-5 THE CAR IS CARBURATED NOW AND I SOLD OFF THE COMPUTER AND TPI. MY SPEEDO DONT WORK (EVERYTHING ELES DOES) I DONT KNOW HOW THE ELECTRIC SPEEDO WOULD WORK IN THESE CAR MAKING IT HARD TO TROUBLESHOOT. DO I NEED TO PUT A COMPUTER IN IT?? I KNOW THAT THE 2 WIRES FROM THE SENDER GO TO THE BUFFER (YELLOW BOX BY WERE THE COMPUTER WOULD BE) AND THE LITTLE GREEN/BLACK WIRE GOES TO THE "S" SIDE OF THE SPEEDO. THATS ALL I GOT SOME ONE HELP ME HERE

i have an 86, and i dont need the computer
what type of speed sensor is on the trans mechanical or electric? and how is it hooked up

the car was set up with a 700r4 auto with an electric vss. i just switched to a t5 manual and found an electric vss and hooked it up. nothing no power goes to you vss and if you put power to one wire and drive it with a test light on the other wire you get nothing to the test light

are the drive/driven gears in the trans? is the sender good?

What car did the T-5 come out of? If it was originally for a cable driven speedometer you will have to change the tailshaft housing to an electric one.
The cable driven transmissions still had a vss mounted on the side after 85 I think but that was just for the ecm and cruise control. I am pretty sure that this is correct, maybe someone with more experience can chime in.
