light monitor module?

What is a light monitor module? My headlights are drawing power on low beams. I checked the wiring diagram and it showed a light monitor module is optional. If I have one where would it be? This is the first thing I'm looking for,is there any other things that cause this? Thanks for the help

Re: light monitor module?

The light monitor module watches the headlights and parking lights. It will tell you when one is out front back or headlight it may be limited to digital dash cars only.I'm not sure who got them,I have it in mine, but I don't know if analog cars got them.

Re: light monitor module?

Can you tell me where it's located on the car. I have an analog dash. After going through the car today, it turns out the high beam lights are on all the time. When swithced to low beams on the headlights they are back feeding power to the headlights. I disconnected the power to the low beams and they stayed on, also the fog lights only work with the parking lights on and go off once the headlights are turned on. The high beam indicator light on the dash stays on all the time when the lights are on. I thought that light module might be bad.

Re: light monitor module?

The monitor module only monitors the lights it has nothing to do with control.it just compares voltage drop across the bulbs themselves and gives a warning on the digital dash.I don't think you have one. There is a headlight control module on the firewall near the brake booster. It is square and has one electrical plug going to it.It controls headlight operation.I don't know if it could do what your talking about. It does have a bunch of relays in it.
