Torque converter lockup wiring - ECM harness required?
Is the ECM harness required to use the ADAL plug to run a manual lockup switch? My assumption would be yes, it appears the ECM harness has some wiring running down to the tranny at that back of the motor, but I wanted to be sure. Also, if it is those wires running down to the tranny from the ECM harness, can they be cut and a switch installed directly? Thanks.

yes the ecm is requiredot run the tcc
but you can toggle the two wires for it yes
or buy a kit aftermarket for it
around 50 bucks
lots of threads on this on this site
but search is broken
do a google
billions of information on the internet about this
good luck

Re: Torque converter lockup wiring - ECM harness required?
As a follow-up, after some internet reading, it seems it would be possible to run key-on power to the lockup solinoid, w/ a switch on the ground side, you'll esentially have a lockup switch, w/o the harness required. So, anybody know which wires are which, going from the ECM harness to the tranny?

Re: Torque converter lockup wiring - ECM harness required?
There are three wires. One will be 12v, one will be the fourth gear signal (grounded in all gears except 4th) and the other will be the TCC lockup. Ground this wire to lockup the TCC.
The lockup wire, IIRC is a light blue wire. Drive around with a multimeter and have some fun! The lockup and 4th wires end up right at the ECM, so if you don't have an ecm, find the wires (continuity test from plug) and start experimenting.
Edit-
A lot of people use a relay and the fourth signal and make it so that the convertor locks up anytime it is in fourth.
