As long as it has the same engine and transmission, and is from the same year car, (like 88 camaro to 88 firebird) It should work fine.
Depending on the engine you *might* be able to use a different year computer, but I am unsure which years will interchange.

Engine: 92 5.7 tpi 5.3
Transmission: 700r4 6L60E
Axle/Gears: 2.42 too high

if you have TPI, from 86 to 89 are interchangeable.
90-92 are interchangeable.
you will need the right MEMCAL for you application.
TBI used one ECM for 88, & a different ECM for 89-92
