Up Shift message on Automatic ?

I recently purchased an 88 IROC L98 (B2L). According to the codes, this was a 350 TPI and I'm told it has the 700r4 auto trans. This is going to be my first resto job and my first 3rd gen camaro. I noticed a light on the instrument panel that reads "UP SHIFT". I thought the words "UP SHIFT" only showed up on standard cars, not automatics. Does anyone have an insight on this ? Would there be an RPO code that signifies if this car was originally standard ?

Any help would be appreciated...

Frank

The cluster covers both cars. If it's an auto, the bulb is simply left out.

If you put the bulb back in, it will light when the TC locks!
